My Christmas Autistic Message

This Christmas, you are allowed to celebrate in the way that feels right for you, whether that is quiet or loud, traditional or different. Hopefully, you are surrounded by people who love and cherish you for the true autistic person you are, and they bring calm and solitude to your life.

You do not have to mask, perform, or push past your limits to deserve joy and fulfilment. Your way of experiencing the world; your focus, your honesty, your sensitivity, your depth, is something to be respected and valued, especially at this time of the year.

If Christmas feels magical, I hope it brings you comfort, delight and newly formed memories. If it feels overwhelming, I hope you find moments of peace, safety, and understanding. If today is just another day you are getting through, that is okay too.

You are enough as exactly as you are. You do belong and matter, at Christmas and for every day of the year. I wish you a season filled with kindness, acceptance, and moments that feel good in your own way and to reflect on the progress you have made this past year.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
